Biomedical modelling, drug resistance, phase-specificchemotherapy.
This paper is concerned with phase-specific
chemotherapy design. It deals with two models of the
problem. The first one can be found in literature and does
not take into account increasing drug resistance which is
a phenomena observed in clinical research. The second
model combines phase-specific chemotherapy and
evolution of drug resistance stemming from gene
amplification. The basic biological background for the
models is given and afterwards the mathematical problem
of finding optimal solution is stated. The results are
subsequently presented and discussed.
