Abstract

Technology developments surrounding the need for cost effective natural resource management have gained prominence over the last few years. However, many “solution” providers have only addressed the issues of larger scale operations that have relatively easy connection to power sources and fixed lines of communication. It is well known in the water industry that systematic losses and limited overall usage management has been largely caused by the inability to effectively address the issues of remote monitoring across the supply network and thus overall management of the data. This paper addresses these issues and provides a methodology for the creation of a extensible solution for an integrated approach to water management. It also shows the practical approach to implementation that has resulted in a successful proof-of-concept system that has motivated potential users to adopt the system
