Frequency Properties of Median Algorithms used for Pulse Elimination

The paper deals with frequency responses of certain median filtering algorithms (linear combinations of weighted medians) which were used for detection and elimination of impulsive disturbances. The frequency responses were estimated using a certain linearization the ratio of particular frequency components of output and input was taken into consideration. Two different inputs were applied in estimation procedures: white random sequence and pure sine waves at particular frequencies. Some variations in magnitude, resulting from different spectra of input signals are analyzed. It is concluded, that such spectral analysis of median algorithms should influence parameters of pulse elimination algorithms.
