A Class-based Power Control Algorithm for CDMA Systems

Abstract

A class-based power control algorithm for CDMA systems is presented. It is a stepwise power control algorithm, which fully compatible with the current 3G system. The concept of class-based link protection is introduced. It suggests that low priority on-going service should be dropped in a fully loaded system when some higher priority services acquire for more bandwidth or ac quire for admission. Simulations show that the proposed algorithm possesses the class-based link protection property. It is also shown that the algorithm has lower outage probability when compared to the current power control algorithm in 3G system.
