A Comparison between Traditional and Ellipsoidal Fuzzy Systems to Estimate and Predict Hydrocarbons Concentration in the Air

This work is aimed to estimate and predict Hydrocarbons concentrations in the air of Villa San Giovanni, a small town located in front of Messina Strait (Italy). Traditional and ellipsoidal fuzzy systems together with neuro-fuzzy systems have been exploited in order to improve prediction performances. A non linear technique for the of ranking the sensors has been in addition utilized, to select the set of optimal inputs.
