: Process control, simulation, modelling,
stock preparation, feedforward control
: An advanced control strategy is proposed to
minimise process volume of the stock preparation system.
Two alternative process and control designs are presented
and their performances in terms of disturbance attenuation
are investigated by simulation. The objective of the
simulations is to find out whether it is possible to
compensate process disturbances actively by an advanced
control strategy instead of using large process volumes for
disturbance attenuation. A process model library for
modelling processes of the pulp and paper industry is
described and a simple equation for the buffer chest
dimensioning is derived.
