Abstract

This paper presents the design and implementation of an intelligent system devoted to the analysis and classification of the spectra of stars of three different kinds of luminosity. The system obtains and measures the most important spectral features and automatically determines the spectral type in the current standard classification system. In the development of the system we have combined signal processing, knowledge-based systems, fuzzy logic techniques and artificial neural networks, integrating them by means of a relational database which allow us to compare and contrast the results achieved with the different methods.
