What does Current Web-based Education Lack?

Abstract

Current Web-based education has its limitations. Most of the limitations can be divided into three categories: conceptual, technological, and tools-related. The paper describes the three categories in detail and discusses possible ways of overcoming them. The underlying idea is that next-generation Web-based applications should exhibit more theory- and content-oriented intelligence, pay more attention to interoperability, reusability, and knowledge sharing issues, and look more closely to general trends in Web development.
