Mobile Agent based Efficient Channel Allocation for VoD

This paper proposes a technique to reduce the bandwidth requirements of a Video-on-Demand system and also proposes an VoD architecture using agent technology. The popularity of a video is periodically measured by a mobile agent and while efficiently allocating the channels, this popularity of the video is considered which makes the most popular videos to be streamed faster. The proposed technique reduces the cost on the network resources considerably, allows interactive Video-on-Demand functionality and also gives preference to the most popular videos while streaming the videos.
