Abstract

In this paper, an attempt has been made to reduce the harmonics generated into the stator terminals due to non-linear load connected at the grid side of a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG)-wind turbine system. Also, the stator voltage profile is regulated by injecting appropriate series voltage into the line, using series grid side converter (SGSC), to maintain its desire value during symmetrical/asymmetrical grid faults. A closed-loop selective harmonic compensation technique–based control strategy is considered for SGSC. The MATLAB®/Simulink® platform is used to simulate the study system and analyse the simulation results. It is noticed that the SGSC with its control scheme can be enough capable for maintaining the stator voltage of DFIG during grid sag, and reducing the undesirable effects and harmonic content at the stator terminals due to the non-linear load.
