Time Series Model for Packet Process in Network Traffic

The discovery of the self similar nature of the network traffic led to the radical changes in the traffic modeling and our understanding of the network behavior. With the long range dependence and bursty nature associated with self similar traffic, network performance degrades signif icantly and traditional network design and measurement techniques become insufficient. Therefore accurate char acterisation of network traffic and understanding the causes behind its behavior is of utmost importance. In this study we give the complete procedure for modeling and obtaining the predictions for packet process in network traffic using the FARIMA model.
