Application of Uncertain Variables to Control Task Allocation in a Multiprocessor System

The paper is concerned with a control of task allocation in a set of parallel processors described by knowledge representations with uncertain execution times. The unknown parameters are assumed to be values of so called uncertain variables characterized by certainty distributions given by an expert. It is shown how to determine the allocation maximizing the certainty index that a requirement concerning the execution time is satisfied. The idea of a decomposition and two-level control system is described. Simple examples illustrate the presented approach.
