In this paper, we present a simple method to easily calibrate a camera using planar homographies. Compared with the existing camera calibration method which has to know metric structure of the model plane and demand expensive equipment such as two or three orthogonal planes, the proposed method can estimate camera parameters using only projected images of planar calibration patterns shown at a few different orientations. The proposed method is sufficient for applications where highest accuracy is not demanded and can be easily performed by typical computer users who are not experts in computer vision. Both computer simulation and real data have been used to test the proposed method, and reasonably reliable results have been obtained.
