This paper presents a real time depth cue acquisition algo rithm based on motion parallax. The real time operation of the algorithm is achieved by hiring and modifying so called elementary motion detectors known to be of low computa tional cost. By devising multiple elementary motion detec tors with different time constants of time delay filters, local motion vectors can be estimated. Estimated local motion vectors have found to be able to describe motion parallax resulting in providing a depth cue.
