A Software System to Support Medical Diagnosis by Imaging

We present an experimental software system to test Image Processing and Decision Support techniques in the domain of Medical Diagnosis. The system is based on an expand able series of functionalities and a programming language. Possible applications of the system are validation of image segmentation techniques and learning of diagnostic knowl edge to be used in medical diagnosis support. In this work we show a general method for knowledge induction we im plemented in the system and also an application to study Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis from MR imaging. In this case, the rules learned by the system showed to be consis tent with the diagnostic criteria actually used on the field.
