Today an ever-expanding set of business processes is based on the Internet. Further, many such processes in volve a coordinated execution of multiple tasks, i.e., a workflow. In addition, many business processes involve time constarints on their duration or deadline. Typically such constraints are derived from organizational rules or laws. As time constraints are essential parts of business processes also workflow systems should support them. In this paper we introduce a set of concept for specifying and managing time constraints in Internet-based work flows. In particular, a concept, called two-phase web services, is introduced in order to avoid the disadvantages of missed deadlines.
