In this paper, a dynamic sliding mode control scheme is proposed for the speed control of a variable reluc tance motor (VRM). The proposed controller guaran tees the asymptotic regulation of the speed of the mo tor to its desired value. Simulation results of the pro posed controller are given to illustrate the developed theory. In addition, the robustness of the proposed sliding mode controller to changes in the parameters of the motor, and to load disturbances is validated through simulation studies.
