Computation of Performance Measures for DCA in Highway Cellular Systems

A technique for computing performance measures for DCA (dynamic channel assignment) in linear and circular single channel highway cellular systems is presented. Closed form formulae are obtained for conventional measures such as the capacity, handover blocking probability and new call blocking probability in terms of the traffic load and the number of cells in the system. A measure of call quality in these systems is also proposed and analyzed. Some numer ical results to illustrate DCA performance in such systems are included. These results for a single-channel system are useful since they provide an upper bound for multi-channel systems.
