Efficient Feature-based Model Editing through Reuse of Intermediate Tool Bodies

D.M. Weldy and T.S. Newman (USA)

Computer aided design (CAD), solid modeling, feature based modeling

Improved performance in the editing and rendering of placed constructs in feature-based solid models is ad dressed via a reuse strategy. The strategy enables a model update without regeneration of all features placed subse quent to the edited feature. The impact of the strategy's caching mechanism on performance is examined using a large census of parts.
