Transient based Ground Fault Location using Wavelets

This paper presents the wavelet analysis of ground fault transients in HV radial operated ungrounded networks for fault location purposes. The paper also studies some conditions affecting fault transient generation. The fault transient analysis showed that the wavelet transform is inherently suitable for fault location purposes and that transient fault location is possible in HV networks. The ground fault analysis was performed using the EMTP ATP software.
