Abstract

The Fuzzy Logic Controllers have proven to provide robust control under varying operating conditions that exceeds most form of common robust controllers. Auto-landing of airborne vehicles like aircraft, Unmanned aerial vehicles, etc. is one such system where one comes across not only significant parameter variations, but also noise. The present work aims at designing a FLC for auto-landing and compares the results of the evaluation with that of a conventional robust controller, namely the H-infinity controller. A variety of tests are carried out to evaluate their performances. The numerical results indicate that the FLC out performs the H-infinity controller in most of the tasks, thereby providing a strong challenge to the mathematically oriented controllers.
