This paper provides a description of retention modelling for a dynamic simulator of a modern, high-performance fine paper machine. The retention modelling was a significant part of the development work for the simulator. The objective of this work is to examine retention of separate mass components in the wire of the paper machine. The developed retention model is based on measurements on a laboratory device, which simulates fourdrinier paper machine.
