Abstract

A stable algorithm for generating high resolution images from a small set of given low resolution images, obtained from various sources is described. The algorithm includes using image registration with sub-pixel accuracy based on matched filtering and adaptive filtering, imaging sequence simulation using spatial domain filtering and non linear restoration filtering. In order to improve the computational efficiency of the algorithm, a low computational method for image registration is suggested, that makes use of motion estimation data contained in compressed video streams. The algorithm can be used to improve the visual quality of images, such as thermal sensors for military applications, as well as selected TV frames.
