The Internet is a common medium for lifestyle counseling systems, an important part of which is nutrition counseling. The paper describes the method used by MenuGene, an in telligent menu planner that generates personalized dietary weekly menu plans with the emphasis on the prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases (CD). The task of weekly dietary menu planning is con sidered a multi-objective optimization problem which is solved by a multi-level genetic algorithm. The algorithm decomposes the search space to sub-spaces according to the structure and nutritious content of the menu plan.
