Characterization of geometrical parameters of tapered lensed fibers is an important issue in modern industry. This paper outlines a methodology for performing required measurements and analysis of tapered lensed fiber shape. Proposed methodology is based on well known image processing algorithms and appropriate opto mechanical setup. Extracted geometrical parameters include: taper angle and its symmetry, fiber micro-lens radius and curvature center displacement, etc. Optical imaging system distortion and noise are addressed. Presented methodology extracts 3D geometrical parameters and can be fully automated.
