Simulation of a Phase Shifter based on SIW Technology

This paper presents a new phase shifter based on Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) technology. The phase shifter uses post-based technique, and thus different phase shifts can be obtained by changing the position of these posts in the SIW substrate. Three phase bits are simulated, namely 22.5°, 45° and 67.5°. Simulation results have shown a return loss less than 19 dB, an insertion loss less than 0.2 dB and a 1% bandwidth, calculated for a phase error of ±6°, at the operating frequency of 28 GHz.
