Optimized Fuzzy Controller for a Helicopter

In this article is outlined the design of an optimized fuzzy control for a helicopter. In this nonlinear and unstable system, intends the control of altitude. For this it is proposed the implementation of a fuzzy controller with optimization of the conclusions of the rules by using the stochastic gradient method. In this case a text book example is used for the proposed strategy. The learning signal is obtained from a combination of controllers which are switched. Simulations are carried out by using a simple model of the helicopter. Results compare the system response of the proposed control strategy with a classic PI, a PD-like fuzzy controller, a PID-like fuzzy controller and the combined controller showing a good performance of it.
