Abstract

In this paper, we introduce new scheduling discipline for providing deterministic end-to-end delay and jitter bounds in ATM networks. According to our approach, our scheduling discipline is used for scheduling connections in multiplexing. By assuming the leaky-bucket constrained input source, we can regulate the traffic flow of each connection within the ATM network. As will be shown, the proposed scheduling discipline can provide deterministic bounds for each connection passing through a network. Finally, we introduce some metrics for evaluating the scheduling discipline needed for the implementation of hard real-time connections in ATM networks.
