Investigation of the Three Phase Short Circuit in an Weak Power System Including WECS

In this paper a detailed analysis for a weak power system at a three phase short circuit at the load, is presented. This system is supplied by a conventional plant and a wind energy conversion system. This hybrid system consists of a Diesel motor – synchronous generator unit, a wind generator including an asynchronous generator and the necessary control systems. The dynamic behavior of this system in cases of different WECS and different wind velocity, at a three phase short circuit at the load, is studied due to a developed general dynamic mathematical model. Some characteristic simulation results for the system’s variables are included.
