A Time Domain Transformer Model

In this paper a numerical technique for generating the instantaneous magnetization characteristic and the instantaneous core loss characteristic of a single-phase trans former is proposed. The hysteresis loop is described by the instantaneous core loss resistance R, and the instantaneous magnetizing inductance L. This time domain transformer model is applied to calculate the excitation current under sinusoidal and nonsinusoidal supply voltage. These results are compared to those simulated by ATP obtaining a significant improvement. The excitation current determined by the instantaneous parameters R(t) and L(t) fits the experimental data accurately.
