Abstract

In this paper, we propose to use a weighted PSNR for objective measurement of video quality. Typical videos consist of three colors: red, blue, and green. Traditionally, the PSNR of the three colors are computed with equal weight and used as a measurement of video quality. Recently, an optimization procedure that finds the optimal weight vector for a number of parameters has been proposed. In this paper, we propose to use the optimization procedure to find the optimal weight vector for the three colors to obtain a better objective measurement of video quality. Experimental results show that the proposed method provides improved performance over the conventional PSNR method.
