Abstract

This paper presents the algorithm used in developing a modeller that generates surfaces which are defined by any arbitrary topology of control points. The modeller is based on the subdivision method, RATS, that can generate smooth surfaces which are defined by any number of different n-sided patches. The algorithm as well as the method can provide a useful tool with a wide range of applicability in geometric modelling, but particularly in the area of modelling complex figures.
