Abstract

Computer graphics have made it possible to create very realistic images and is widely used in various fields. To generate the desired images, the user has to appropriately set the parameters used for computing the color of each pixel. The user should be familiar with the algorithm and the meanings of the parameters. Even so, the parameters are determined in most cases through tedious trial and error. Moreover, the cost for rendering images is expensive in general. This time-consuming process interrupts the user’s thinking and makes it difficult to determine the optimal parameter values. To address the problem, this paper proposes a computer-aided system for setting parameters interactively. The usefulness of our system is demonstrated by using it to render synthetic images of sky.
