In this paper, we propose the progressive still image coding method using wavelet transform based on visual region. Providing priorities of transmission with the coding blocks adaptively, we are able to address the users who need to manage the various kinds of images. Experimental results of two kinds of original images are given, and we conclude that our method makes it possible to correspond to the multi-purpose of image displaying.
