Abstract

In this paper we analyze some of the implementation aspects of the soul – body model, architecture for the construction of collaborative distributed virtual worlds. First, we analyze the original model where the world’s elements are updated by pooling. In the second schema, we describe when is possible to move some of the processing to the clients. In the third, we analyze a scheme based on call backs, where the updates are made only when local events modify the state of the world. We show an analysis of some performance measures and the tradeoff between the different implementation decisions.
