Fast Model for Monitoring of Backup Batteries in Telecommunications Networks

Fast calculation model is proposed in this paper for pre diction of the dynamic behaviour of valve-regulated lead acid batteries. The model is obtained from theoretical cell model as a lumped parameter model. The model is applied for monitoring backup batteries under float charging with medium and slow discharging rates. It is used for detec tion of weak batteries in a telecommunications network uninterrupted power supply systems. The state-of-health of batteries is evaluated in terms of natural electrochemi cal processes using measurements of current-voltage and temperature of surrounding atmosphere of battery.
