We use a computer-simulated model of the Arterial System to investigate the effects of Compliance and Heart Rate on the power required from the Left Ventricle (LV). We demonstrate that the power required from the LV increases when Arterial Compliance decreases. We also demonstrate the importance of increased Heart Rate in reducing Left-Ventricular Load in exercise.
