This paper presents a new algorithm for DWDM-based optical networks. The proposed algorithm addresses the ‘fairness problem’, i.e., providing acceptable level of blocking to all classes of service, while at the same time maximizing the throughput of the network and the attendant revenue to the service provider that operates the network.
