This paper presents a new design method of robust internal model control for MIMO (multiple input multiple output) system. Based on the principle of IMC (internal model control), a robust compensator is introduced into the control system and then yields a new robust observer for MIMO process. Through the compensating for model uncertainty, the complex robustness problem of MIMO system can be solved as simple SISO (single input single output) design techniques and the criterion of robust stability for MIMO control system is proposed. The design procedure implies the usefulness in practical application of the presented design method and analysing of a numerical example is illustrated to show the advantages of the new design method.
