Abstract

This paper presents the vehicle speed, direction, identification (ID) sensing methods for Personal Rapid Transit (PRT). The M-method and the T-method are introduced in order to obtain the accurate speed of the vehicle using proximity sensors. Two proximity sensors are utilized to detect the direction of the vehicle and to measure the speed of the vehicle. Another sensor is used for vehicles ID reading. For correct ID detection, two sensing plates aligned with 15mm difference are applied.
