The aim of this paper is the modeling and simulation of an adjustable-speed induction motor using the PSCAD/EMTDC software package. The modeling and the simulation of the induction motor drive is the first basic step for a series of important studies to be performed such as: induction machine drive condition monitoring, machine analysis, protection, maintenance and diagnostic research. A three-phase Pulse-Width-Modulated inverter capable to supply the induction motor has firstly implemented and afterwards several simulations on the electrical drive have been performed changing the mechanical load at various frequencies deducing useful and important conclusions.
