Abstract

In this paper an attempt is made to verify the permissible upper limit (US= 50mV) of the voltage drop across a low voltage stationary contact in accordance with VDE 0660. A mathematical relation is proposed for the voltage drop, US, across a low voltage stationary contact dependent on the temperature. Us = 50 mV is considered as a relevant value for evaluation of the temperature rise, because it represents the permissible upper limit of the voltage drop across a low voltage stationary contact in accordance with VDE 0660. The results of experiments carried out agree closely with the calculations of the temperature rise, which have been evaluated using the above mentioned upper limit.
