We present a complete scheme of an autonomous robotic wheelchair based on a multiprocessor distributed system. The wheelchair is managed through a processing layers hierarchy, where each single layer has a specific influence on the robot motion depending on the layer abstraction degree. A total of five layers are structured using a multi processor scheme that provides a fast response to immediate changing environments.
