Abstract

The paper presents a new design of the electrogustometer – a device for measuring the gustatory sense threshold. An innovative gustatory sense stimulation method was used in the device – the bipolar stimulation. It consists in both electrodes being simultaneously positioned on the tongue, thus the stimulus is delivered locally. The stimulation is conducted with impulse current of rectangular shape. The first result of experiments are presented along with a concept of the gustatory evoked potentials and a concept for the development of the electrogustometer design. The aim of the research is to develop a device allowing for an objective gustatory sense examination.
