A Framework of an Acoustic Navigation Network Servicing Multiple Autonomous Underwater Vehicles

The paper adresses the general problems of constructing an underwater navigation network. The considered net work utilizes a concept of the time of flight (TOF) mea surements. First we explain an acoustic positioning prob lem. Further we outline a conventional and improved tri angulation algorithms. Finally, we describe an organiza tion of a layered synchronous navigation network which is capable to service multiple underwater vehicles.
