A novel UHF printed loop antenna is presented for near field RFID tag antenna application. The antenna printed on a FR4 PCB with an overall size of 30 mm × 30 mm × 1.6 mm achieves good resonance and uniform magnetic field distribution to operate frequency at 915 MHz, which is desirable to improve the read range at perpendicular incidence in close proximity to metals or liquids. Read range measurement results of the proposed tag antenna are compared with the commercially available near field tag.
