Abstract

The goal of the project reported in this paper is to design and deploy a fully-functional web-based video browsing, annotation, and retrieval solution targeted at marine biology researchers. The solution must comply with marine biology surveys’ procedures and protocols and must handle a significant amount of raw video footage. It has been designed to leverage the best practices in web development, particularly the use of HTML5, jQuery, and CSS to provide a rich and accessible front-end for researchers to navigate through survey results in search of objects and frames of interest. Its modular architecture should allow for further improvements and customizations.
