Modelling and Simulation of Combined Cycle Power Plants Participating in Network Frequency Control

Considering about the increasing of the capacity of gas turbine and combined cycle power plants in Iran's power system and the future projects of power industry for developing these power plants, they should cooperate in controlling the frequency. In this paper, a complete accurate model including turbine, governor, compressor, speed control and exhaust temperature control systems is used for simulating the dynamic response of gas and steam units of combined cycle power plants in frequency control mode. The simulation results are compared with an actual test done in a combined cycle power plant for model verification.
