Probit model, Landslide, Landslide dam, Hazard model
Statistical analysis of landslides dam failures from well defined geological areas can provide useful information for the prediction of future landslide dam failures and for the mitigation of hazards related to these future events. This paper attempts to help fill an empirical gap in understanding landslide dam stability by building and estimating models of landslide dam stability for a sample of 46 well documented landslide dams in Japan. The models are estimated using Probit models estimated using the method of Gauss-Newton.
