A Fuzzy Virtual Sensor for Substrate Concentration in a Wastewater Treatment Plant

In this work a virtual sensor based on fuzzy logic is designed to estimate the substrate concentration in the activated-sludge process output of a wastewater treatment plant. Input-output operation data produced by simulation are used for the identification of the virtual sensor parameters by means of a neuro-fuzzy network. Preliminary results show the convenience of introducing a series-parallel structure in the identification process.
